Fashion & The Inspo Process Behind It

Mandy Lopata-Cheatham

Model & Photographer from NYC

Mood boards help us put ideas and visions together. It's a tool widely used in different ways, physically, and digitally.

I have more than 4 apps that have the option to create one that I utilize, but the major tool on my phone would be Pinterest with its sharing and searching capabilities.

If you see a photo while browsing online you can share it to Pinterest and organize it into a folder you create or have already created called a board.

Each board is a collection of photos that link you to websites, and the board features other images inspired by the collection you're viewing.

It gets addicting to "pin" photos into the boards you create.

You can even select board options, editing the settings to make that board secret in that only you and collaborators can see it.

I've shared and created boards in collaboration with different photographers and models to brainstorm ideas while solidifying plans. It's fun to put together, visually pleasing for everyone, and easy to share. It's how I was able to translate a creative thought and work towards putting it into action with the team involved. Name a better way!

On my Pinterest profile, you will find the following three categories I've broken my main boards down to based on what I love to put a pin into...

I refer to these as my inspo boards:

A. fashion

B. shoot

C. pose

If you have a Pinterest account and love these categories as I do,

I'd appreciate the follow so we can Pin together :)
